Legal use of the Logo

Requirements for Use of Logo

In order to protect the integrity of our visual identity, we require all vendors producing work with any materials bearing the University of Windsor logo, Shield or Wordmark to sign a Logo Usage Agreement, below. This is to ensure vendors adhere to our logo usage guidelines and produce work that properly and consistently reflects the University’s brand.

Approved Vendors

Logos will be released only to approved vendors. To become an approved vendor, the Logo Usage Agreement must be signed and delivered to the University of Windsor, Office of Public Affairs and Communications: PAC@uwindsor.ca or 401 Sunset Avenue, Windsor, Ontario N9B 3P4

No purchases are to be made from vendors who have not signed the University of Windsor Logo Usage Agreement.

All employees purchasing branded products and merchandise must ensure their vendor has reviewed, understood and signed the Logo Usage Agreement. All materials produced that contravene the guidelines contained herein will be deemed unfit for use and must be discarded and recreated in accordance with University of Windsor Brand Guidelines.

University of Windsor Logo Usage Agreement

1. Contractor is granted a non-exclusive licence and consent to use the University of Windsor’s Mark (the “Mark”), provided that:

a) Contractor shall only have use of the Mark and shall not use any other logo of the University of Windsor;

b) Contractor’s use of the Mark shall be in accordance with standards of public morals, business practice, and general appearance which do not compromise or reflect unfavourably on the good name or good will of the University;

c) Contractor’s use of the Mark shall be in accordance with the University’s Guidelines for Logo Usage (the “Guidelines”) as amended by the University from time to time. The said Guidelines being found at: uwindsor.ca/pac

d) The University shall have the right to inspect the items, product, or supplies (the “Merchandise”) bearing or associated with the Mark for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the University’s character and quality standards;

e) Contractor’s use of the Mark shall be accompanied by the words “Officially Licensed Product” or other such words as the University may designate.

f) University at its sole discretion shall determine whether Contractor’s usage of the Mark is in compliance with the Guidelines;

g) The Contractor shall upon written notice from the University cease and desist in any non conforming usage of the Mark.

2. Upon the written request of the University, the Contractor shall, at its cost, destroy all items, product, or supplies (the “Merchandise”) bearing a non-compliant Mark.

3. Any failure on the Contractor to cure any non conforming use of the Mark, or any failure to destroy Merchandise bearing a non compliant Mark will be considered a fundamental breach of this agreement.

4. The within license and consent shall only apply to the Mark, and the use by the Contractor of any other logo of the University of Windsor, including without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the University’s Shield, Crest, Coat of Arms or Webmark is hereby expressly prohibited.

5. All rights not expressly granted by the University to the Licensee under this agreement are reserved by the University. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Contractor shall not use the Mark on its business cards, stationery, internal newsletters, brochures or other materials, other advertisements, without the prior approval of the University.
